The Power of Silence

Power of silence
meditative reflection
uplifting spirit
impassioned intercession
releasing soul to the light

In one of her recent prompts, Dennett posed the question, What does power mean to you? Accompanying her words were two photos she’d snapped of a massive alligator lurking in the waters near her home in Florida.

By any measure, a 7-foot alligator is a powerful force to be reckoned with but what struck me more than anything was the silence. I pictured myself being the one holding the camera watching ‘the king of his world’ glide through the water with barely a ripple disturbing the surface. Not a ripple. Not a sound. Silence. Silence is his defense. Silence is his weapon. Silence is his power.

It got me thinking about silence. The power of silence and what that means to me. It got me thinking about the power of thought. Reflection. Meditation. Prayer. It got me thinking about how we facilitate this through silence. The silence of being alone with our thoughts. And the silence that comes from switching off the buzz of the world and…
